I am not much of a craftsman, myself. But it is as you say: the work and time put into a gift surely matters infinitely more to them than the end product itself.

basically the only way to mess this up is to not actually care so you're already doing great! the heart is always your strongest muscle! the harder you care the more reps you get in.
